Can we not get a pic of the man playing sax?
[edit]Leroi or LeRoi?
[edit]According to AllMusic, it's spelled "Leroi." There was another article, LeRoi Moore, whose text was identical to this article. I redirected that article to this one. If it is indeed spelled "LeRoi" then this simply needs to be reversed - we don't need the exact same article under two names. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 01:04, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Yet according to the band's website it is spelled "LeRoi." But it is a moot point for now due to possible copyvio (see below). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 01:40, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I'm moving the page to LeRoi Moore because it is spelled as so on his biography page on the band's website. I've added a footnote to the page as well. -- Crashintome4196 18:12, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Agree I', in support of the move. Milchama 12:18, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Page moved, per request. Cheers. -GTBacchus(talk) 04:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Possible copyright violation
[edit]Much of this text duplicates the Dave Matthews Band's website. The "Legal" section says the following:
- "Dave Matthews Band endorses the creation of fan web sites; however, the images, audio, and video material found on www.davematthewsband.com and www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com belong to Dave Matthews Band and may only be used with the Band's prior consent. Please e-mail us at webmaster@davematthewsband.com to request consent."
(Sorry, no link, it was a pop-up window so I couldn't get the URL.) I'm guessing we need explicit permission (which should appear on this page) before using their content in this Wikipedia article. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 01:40, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I have created a temporary subpage for this article. Still wondering about a source for the David Saull quote (not that it's much of a quote). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 02:41, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Copyvio problem resolved
[edit]The material in question has been removed. Now, the article just needs to be re-expanded (using one's own writing, of course). Thanks to Petaholmes for moving the temp page to the article space. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 06:21, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Which instruments?
[edit]Which saxophone is his main instrument? Is it the soprano? We need to list his major and minor saxes at List of saxophonists. Badagnani (talk) 18:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Does he also play the oboe? Badagnani (talk) 04:40, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
death
[edit]Hearing rumors that he's died as a result of injuries from his atv accident such as here: [1]
I know that's not a reliable source or anything, but i just wanted to give a heads up in case A: Its true, so his page can be updated in a timely manner, or B: Its not true, so any well intentioned but ill informed fans don't change it by accident. Umbralcorax (talk) 00:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- The edits have already started. I semi protected the page for 12 hours to allow for some official work one way or the other to come out. I hate protecting articles, but I think within 12 hours we'll hear something. If word comes out quicker, I may remove the protection earlier if I'm around.↔NMajdan•talk 01:11, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
His death was just announced on CNN. Jshecket (talk) 01:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Saw that as well. Unprotected page.↔NMajdan•talk 01:57, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Damn, wish I'd been wrong about that. Umbralcorax (talk) 02:34, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Leroi's death brings to mind an old Steely Dan lyric: "Ill learn to work the saxophone, Ill play just what I feel. Drink scotch whisky all night long, and die behind the wheel." RIP Leroi. --DOHC Holiday (talk) 04:52, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Article says he was entombed August 27th. I'm writing this on August 19th. Typo? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.161.110.170 (talk) 15:02, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Dave Matthews said at a concert on 9/8/07 that it was LeRoi's 22nd Birthday
[edit]I'm watching it right now on Palladium channel and I clearly heard Dave say 'it's LeRoi's 22nd Birthday today', and LeRoi took a bow and said thanks on his sax mike. He would have been 45 the day before according to his bio. What explains this 22nd Birthday business? The concert was in Piedmaont Park in Atlanta, and the comment above was made by Dave in the first 20 minutes of the telecast, don't know how that lines up with real time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teepss (talk • contribs) 20:50, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe he was messing with ya... Dave does that. Qb | your 2 cents 21:19, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Lovelife
[edit]I have found a reference [2] that mentions Moore and his fiancée Lisa Beane having met for the first time in 2004. Given the fact he died four years later, does that merit phrasing like 'longtime love'? It's not like they'd been together for 30 years. Mfhulskemper (talk) 23:30, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- They were 'together' for <1 year. He only had one real love- a woman named N* he lived with for ~ 5 years in the mid to late 1990s. He proposed to her on several occasions but she wanted to wait. 204.111.137.58 (talk) 13:57, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
